Could Jesus be a student at Liberty University?

You can read the whole code of conduct from Reprimands and Consequences portion of Liberty’s website.  The original link has been made private now.  You can get the pdf version made from the archived Reprimands and Consequences.  Let’s look at a few fines and reprimands below.

4 Reprimands + $10 Fine
- Improper personal contact (anything beyond hand-holding)

John 13:4 got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself. 5 Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Luke 7:38 and standing behind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume.

6 Reprimands + $25 Fine
-Attendance at a dance
(I’m assuming dancing at Cana.)

John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; 2 and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

-Direct disobedience/disrespect
-Improper social behavior

(The Pharisee’s were an authority and they were questioning social behavior.)

Luke 7:39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner.”

12 Reprimands + $50 Fine
-Participation in an unauthorized petition or demonstration

(I don’t believe the whipping was “authorized.”)

John 2:15And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables;

18 reprimands + $250 Fine + 18 hours Disciplinary Community Service
-Association with those consuming alcohol

John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; 2 and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
Luke 7:33 “For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ 34 “The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

-Sexual misconduct and/or any state of undress

(No sexual misconduct here, but there is undress.)

John 13:4 got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself

.

30 Reprimands + $500 Fine + 30 hours Disciplinary Community Service + possible Administrative Withdrawal. NOTE: For each accumulation of six or more reprimands after 30, an additional $150 fine will be assessed.
-Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages

Matthew 11:19 “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

Matthew 26:29 “But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

Does our Lord make the cut?

Mark,

They don’t really allow bold Calvinists on campus anyway.

Aren’t all these rules a violation of one’s ‘free-will’ so proudly proclaimed at Liberty University?

Good points all.

And Sam, I guess we’d have to ask Jerry, “What came first, the decision or the will?”

That’ll throw him.

Mark,

What happened to these quick thinking pithy commentors?

“Jesus isnt welcome in a lot of places, what makes Liberty any different?”

Now that’s a good one.
