While there may be churches in your area streaming the debate, my Sunday School class and I are using it as an opportunity for fellowship. We picked a house (mine) to open for everyone to come watch.

The debate is being held at the Creation Museum and the promo website states the following.

Is creation a viable model of origins in today’s modern, scientific era? Leading creation apologist and bestselling Christian author Ken Ham is joined at the Creation Museum by Emmy Award-winning science educator and CEO of the Planetary Society Bill Nye.

Ham, a former science instructor who emigrated to the USA from Australia over 25 years ago, is joined by the popular children’s program personality Bill Nye “the Science Guy” for this first and only scheduled debate. Each man delivers what he believes is the best information currently available for his case. Each then has an opportunity for rebuttal and afterward answers questions submitted by the audience.

The upcoming February 4 debate has already generated significant attention from national media, and tickets to attend live were completely sold out within two minutes of release. Read the whole description…

I’m looking forward to a great time of fellowship. I am praying God is glorified in this debate and that He may even use it to share the gospel!

Here I blog…

Mark

Thanks, Zach. For others, Zach makes four points:
1.Ken Ham was humble.
2. The Gospel was presented.
3. It seemed like a political debate.
4. The engagement of unbelievers.

Nye should be skeptical of his position since scientific data interpretation has more complexities than Bible translation. If Nye is skeptical about Ham’s position because the Bible, Old Testament, has been translated from Hebrew to American English; how much more skeptical should he be that scientific data must be interpreted and then translated into American English.

I thought Ken held the Gospel ground (and every other ground) very well throughout the “debate”. I put “debate” in quotations because I see God’s foundational truth’s as un-debatable (particularly with unbelievers) because no matter how much Light is shone, the darkness won’t comprehend it (John 1:5) but: as the light of truth IS being shone such as Ken did, it might just be finding somebody out, somewhere 🙂

I have to say I was a little taken aback by the apparent dividing line in Christiandom about tonights debate, I dunno, I thought it was a good thing!
