This giveaway is sponsored by Solid Ground Christian Books. This week’s giveaway – Is The Mormon My Brother: Discerning the Differences Between Mormonism and Christianity by James R. White.
The book is endorsed by John MacArthur, Hank Hanegraaff, Kenneth R. Samples, Gleason Archer and others. It will help the reader understand the differences between Mormonism and Christianity. White addresses important, eternal differences, especially, in light of recent controversies involving Glenn Beck and Liberty University, for example.
Below is an excerpt from pages 169-170.
Mormonism is not Christianity. It is fundamentally different. While it differs in hundreds of minor details, what is most important to us is that it differs in the most definitional and fundamental aspects from the Christian faith. Christianity worships one God. Christianity knows that there is one God who has eternally been God and is the Creator of all things exhaustively. Everything else in the Christian faith, from the Trinity to the atonement to the gospel to the resurrection, flows from and is defined by, this fundamental truth. And it is just here that we cannot help but hear the words of Joseph Smith when, addressing the idea that God has been God from all eternity, he said, “I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see.” Smith cannot refute God’s truth, and of course, he failed to do so. But the result is beyond question: Mormonism, the system he founded, is not Christianity. It is a false religion with a false god. And if Mormonism is a false religion, then the believing Mormon is deceived and lost. There can be no other honest answer.
And if we are truly concerned with pleasing God and rightly handling His truth, we will have to go one step further. As we saw in Isaiah 41:24, choosing to worship a false god is a fearful choice. The true God takes His sole rights to worship very seriously. When speaking to the idols, God says, He who chooses you is an abomination (to-evah). The teaching that God was once a man, and that men can become gods, involves simple idolatry, for it makes of God something that He is not, and lowers Him to the level of His creation. There is no salvation in such a god, and those worshiping this god are under the wrath of the true and living god.

Please enter me in the drawing.
Thanks,

I would enjoy this book, Mark. Sounds intriguing.
Entered twice.
First because I think James White gives every topic his full attention and can be assured that it is thourough. I know with White’s past witnessing in Utah that he understands the topic and will not be caught up in all the wierd things about the mormons (magic underwear) but will deal with it with scripture.
Second I have wondered the question before and while I dont believe they are I would like to hear another opinion. I also think it would help in witnessing to the LDS that come to our door.
Please enter me in the drawing.

looks like a very good book from a solid theologian! Count me in the giveaway. Grace and peace.
Please understand that Mormons believe in one God, one Jesus Christ and one Holy Ghost. We are all Heavenly Father’s children…he loves us all equally. I believe that you would better serve your Father in heaven by service to those less fortunate and not by negativity.
Dot, I made a brief comparison chart in this post showing that the basic beliefs between Mormonism and Christianity are not the same. They actually define who God is differently.
I’m not sure what you mean by negativity. Is it not negativity to come here and tell me how not to do something by way of telling me what to do?
The only way to serve those less fortunate as a Christian is to not give anyone a false hope via a false gospel which comes from the false god of Mormonism. Joseph Smith himself did not stand with the Protestants of his time as if everyone was one big happy family.
My prayers are with you. I do not attempt to tell anyone what to do. I apologize if that is the way my concerns were translated.
