Faith matters, it shapes your worldview.

Faith matters because what the President believes, just like the rest of us, affects everything he does. His worldview is based on his faith, or lack thereof.

Not a deal breaker, but important as a determination of some of the policies that he will pursue

I think the President's faith matters in that in greatly influences how he interacts with people and his policy decisions. As such, even a Mormon President is kind of scary in that Mormonism has quite a number of strange beliefs that could influence how the President interacts with Protestantism.
