I don't know who this person was that you spoke with, that was purported to be a Catholic, leaving the ranks of the sisters, but as a cradle Catholic, teacher of both the young and adults in the faith, I must say my peace. We, as Catholics, DO read our bibles - both on our own and in mass, each and EVERY time that mass is celebrated - which is daily, I might add. I have great respect and honor for my many protestant friends, and I have never put down their (your) belief system, which I also would like to add that such respect for other faiths is a VERY common Catholic practice. However, I have found MANY examples of being put down as a Catholic Christian, particularly by those of the Baptist persuasion, and have been deeply hurt by such unfounded and ignorant remarks. We are not who you all must think we are, and before you pass judgement, might I suggest that you attend a mass or two - as many of us have attended your services - and learn about who we truly are, what we truly believe and practice, before getting on your soapbox and preaching against our beliefs. Also, remember that nowhere in the bible does it suggest 'Solo Scriptura'.

We are called to “work out our (your) own salvation with fear and trembling.” [Philippians 2:12b].
