Sunday Considerations: Lord, I Did Not Choose You

Post image for Sunday Considerations: Lord, I Did Not Choose You

My Lord, I did not choose You,
For that could never be;
My heart would still refuse You,
Had You not chosen me.
You took the sin that stained me,
You cleansed me, made me new;
Of old You have ordained me,
That I should live in You.

Unless Your grace had called me
And taught my op’ning mind,
The world would have enthralled me,
To heav’nly glories blind.
My heart knows none above You;
For Your rich grace I thirst.
I know that if I love You,
You must have loved me first.1

I too am so glad He saved me. I sometimes think of how He loves me and picture him as a dad to me since my own dad deserted me. He is my Abba Father.

I'm so sorry for you pain, Amy. The Lord Jesus will never abandon us. One day He will wipe all our tears away, never to suffer again.

The Gospel of John, 1st chapter

"...who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."

And then to hammer it home, a couple of chapters later, Jesus basically tells Nicodemus the same thing.

Thanks.

We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19 ESV)
