Uncommon Prayer Requests

Post image for Uncommon Prayer Requests

It’s Sunday morning.  Sunday School has started.  It’s time for prayer requests.  What do you think about?  What is your prayer request going to be?  The common habit is to ask for healing for illness, disease, broken limbs, etc.  These are good prayer requests.  However, we can expand our prayer lives.

There are greater things to pray for while not neglecting hurting and suffering.  The Kingdom of God is much bigger.  Bigger than us.

I want to offer some other ideas for prayer requests.  Often these requests are uncommon as your focus is elsewhere.  I offer these for encouragement.  As an addition to your (and my) current practice.

Uncommon Prayer Requests To Make Common

This is a good start.

For the Kingdom,

Pray for the fulfillment of all the promises that suggest a world wide awakening. E.g., Isa.11:9 & Hab.2:14. Cf Jonathan Edwards’ Humble ttempt, Works, II Edinburgh: Banner of Truth Trust, 1973, p.283

Please pray for and protect my son & daughter who have had too many trials and tribulations all their lives. Give them your faith, love and strength. Please give them courage and wrap them in your heavenly light so that others who continually hurt them may leave them be. May all good things come to them in job security and life.
