It’s Sunday morning. Sunday School has started. It’s time for prayer requests. What do you think about? What is your prayer request going to be? The common habit is to ask for healing for illness, disease, broken limbs, etc. These are good prayer requests. However, we can expand our prayer lives.
There are greater things to pray for while not neglecting hurting and suffering. The Kingdom of God is much bigger. Bigger than us.
I want to offer some other ideas for prayer requests. Often these requests are uncommon as your focus is elsewhere. I offer these for encouragement. As an addition to your (and my) current practice.
Uncommon Prayer Requests To Make Common
- Advancement of God’s Kingdom (Matt. 6:9)
- Explicitly that God’s will be done (Matt. 6:9)
- Thank God for each other being together for the Gospel (Phil. 1:3-5; 1, Thess. 1:2)
- God would open the door for us to share the Gospel (Col. 4:2-4)
- We would share the Gospel boldly (Acts 4:29, Eph. 6:19)
- We would not be tempted (Matt. 26:41)
- Our faith would not fail as we live in the world (Luke 22:32)
- Forgive each other if there are grudges or offenses (Mark 11:25, Col. 3:13)
- For enemies and those persecuting you in any way (Matt. 5:44; Luke 6:28)
- We would grow in wisdom and knowledge of Jesus for God’s glory (Philemon 6, Eph. 1:17)
This is a good start.
For the Kingdom,
Mark
