Christmas Like Clouds and Wind

Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of a gift he does not give.
(Proverbs 25:14 ESV)

Gray clouds darken the sky. Gusts of wind moves trees like an invisible force. The sun is hidden yet still there. Check the weather report, put on a rain coat, grab an umbrella – prepare.

Your hair blows wildly as you walk to the car, but everything else is in place in case you have to change plans. You’re prepared; prepared for rain. Rain is a glorious life-giving, life-sustaining act of nature – God’s nature. As a Christian, you thank God for rain even when the timing seems poor.

You prepare for rain that does not come, but it’s Christmas time so it will be easier to shop.
The Christmas tree, lights, and other decorations are up. Christmas cards are in the mail. You’ve planned your Christmas phone calls in your head. Your church just had its special Christmas production.

You’re prepared for Christmas – a celebration of God’s glorious life-giving, life-sustaining gift of a Savior. As a Christian celebrating Christmas, you thank God for the gospel which He gave through Jesus Christ.

Like clouds and wind that boast of rain they do not give, do you boast at Christmas time of the Savior’s gift that you do not share with others?
