Dan and Tom’s “excessive” adventures

June 9, 2004 — DAN Rather and Tom Brokaw work for different networks but agree one thing — coverage of Ronald Reagan’s death has been excessive, they say.

Well, what constitutes excessive? Now there may be a time when the coverage of Mr. Reagan’s untimely death becomes excessive. Who knows?! However, at the moment, it’s not even been a week since the gentleman has passed so how about a little more respect? I don’t care if you agree or disagree with his ideologies and/or politics. A few examples of what should be deemed as “excessive” media coverage was the OJ Simpson coverage and Charles and Diana royal wedding. Agree with him or not, Mr. Reagan served and contributed to our country. If Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton passed away tomorrow we should give their families the respect as well as time to grieve and mourn. C’mon Dan and Tom, let’s have a little heart as I pray that people will have for the both of you when your times come. Atleast this is mild compared to some of the rhetoric I have heard some are saying about Mr. Reagan. Agree or disagree, here’s a quote to think about:

“With freedom goes responsibility. Sir Winston Churchill once said you can have 10,000 regulations and still not have respect for the law. We might start with the Ten Commandments. If we lived by the Golden Rule, there would be no need for other laws.”Ronald Reagan

Thanks for playing,
