Sunday Considerations: Outdo One Another

Competition moves, feeds, and entertains the world. Competition can be a positive or a negative in life. I would like to encourage a biblical competition that I fail at often.

Christian, think about your attitude and actions toward those in your own home and in the household of faith. How do you think about those family members? How do you treat them?

Have you followed the Apostle Paul’s admonition to outdo them?

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. (Romans 12:10 ESV)

Have you considered to then owe them nothing but love?

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Romans 13:8-10 ESV)
